Everyone's always talkin' about "we need to prevent this" or we need to prevent that...
Screw that!!!
I say, the key is INCREASE...
Before you start sending me rabid emails filled with...rabies, allow me to explain or hear me out at least.
I agree that prevention is a key in health, but many people only focus on the "prevention" aspect of a situation. Ie let's prevent obesity...
I'm all for people having energy and moving freely and breathing better.
How about we focus on INCREASING activity in addition to reducing our intake of certain foods?
The human body is a energy producing machine and it does it's job best when it's moving around ie activity.
Now, I realize that in a way, many campaigns you see on television are promoting activity... but they do so by promoting prevention.
Can you see the difference between PREVENTION and INCREASE?
What are some things that we want to INCREASE to become healthier?
More fruits and Veggies.
More time for relaxation ( stress can increase the release of cortisol, which increases the amount of fat we store)
Most importantly of all, INCREASE fun activities!!!
There's something truly magical that happens when you switch focus onto the things you want:
You automatically start to do those things that will get you where you want to be.
Both focuses are good( Prevention and INCREASE, however, you have to know when to switch your focus.
After you've become aware of what you need to REDUCE, you then decide what you need to increase.
See how that works?
The order of the two strategies is simple, but that simple change can produce TREMENDOUS results.
Another thing you might have noticed that i don't particularly agree with is strict diets.
We are humans and we are designed to experience pleasure, and for most us, pleasure comes from eating good food. Variety is the spice that makes life...spicy.
Many people don't seem to realize this, but when you're active and doing the things you enjoy, your body automatically starts to eat all the food it needs to sustain you.
We are supposed to eat to live, not the other way around.
When you active, your body is naturally regulating your weight. Activity has a regulating effect on the bodies metabolism and fat storing mechanisms.
Finally to sum up all of the above what could have been said in a few words...:)
Play more!!!
