""I'm sick and tired of WAITING!!!"

How many times have heard that before?

How many times have you said that yourself?

I know that I say that quite frequently, especially in the past few months.

However, as I was sitting at my desk, thinking about how boring my current circumstances are, something said to me:

" Well stop waiting and do something!!!"

Call it my higher self, my unconscious mind, whatever, but it a ton of sense. Its like someone slapped me in the face and woke me up.

Even though sitting around and waiting may appear to be doing nothing, we are in fact doing something:

We're waiting!!!

We live in a physical universe where everything is subject to change, at every monent. Nothing is static or unmoving. Sure, we can maintain a state for a period of time, but once we stop applying our energy and attention to it, then it starts to wane. It's called " the law of diminishing returns".

If you'll notice the word "waiting", you'll notice that its a verb. Which implies doing, which implies action, which further proves the point that even in so called "doing nothing", we are still doing?

If your confused by the above, then it ok to feel good about being confused. You can feel good about being confused because there's some part of you that fully understands what I'm saying, and the more you go back and read the above statement, the quicker you'll start to realize consciously how much sense this all makes...

Now, one must beg the question:

What are you "sick and tired" of waiting for?

In other words, what is it that you are not doing?

Are you WAITING for someone to give you a better job?

Are you WAITING for your circumstances to change?

I think, By Now, you're starting to see that my point is this:

Stop waiting.

Start doing.

You only have one life. There's only so much a person can do in a day, but...

Do something.

At the end of the day, we are lazy.

It hit me while i was looking for spanish villas to buy.

Now...

The website for this particular place is very well put together. I'm not a design nerd or anything like that, but i can definitely appreciate things that are put together well.

Anyway, what really got me going about this website was the fact that every few seconds the page pulls up a different villa for you to look at. So, instead of going searching for a villa, the page will bring these awesome bills to you, so to speak...

Anyway, you may be wondering to yourself now: what does this have to do with people and getting in shape?

Well, if you, like me, are a Fitness professional, then this is something that you absolutely want to pay attention to.

The easier that you can help a client become more fit in the quickest amount of time, the more they will want to compensate you.

When you really think about it, it makes perfect sense.

We live in a society of instant gratification. We want what we want right NOW.

Which sounds better to you:

" I can help you lose 10 pounds in 4 weeks" or " I can help you lose 10 pounds in 2 months"?

I guess it depends on your own specific deadlines, but for the most part, the first statement sounds better now, doesn't it?

Anyway, keep that in mind when you're working with clients. Even if you're not a fitness professional, you can apply the instant gratification principle to your own business and earn more money.

Find a way to help people achieve their goals quicker than ever before and the world will build a golden stair case leading to your front door.

If you're thinking about the New Year and searching for a safe way to lose that extra weight, then you owe it to yourself to check out my new book:

"Secrets of super fast weight loss!!" IT'S ON SALE RIGHT NOW!!!

Finish this sentence now:

If I don't lose this extra weight this month, I'll...

Just thought that I would get you started. That's how things work in this world: we have to apply force to generate movement. Once we generate movement, the inital force will provide the inertia and momentum necessary to carry things on until that initial force- energy is used up.

If you're the type of person who sits are around waits for good things to fall into your lap, then you have to stop that type of thinking( unless of course you are the type of person that seems to attract good situations, then please ignore this and leave me a note with detailed instructions on how I can make that happen!).

We are human beings with bodies and we have physical bodies for a reason: so we can MAKE our dreams a reality. Notice how I underlined the word "make"? We have the power to create and build the lives that we want. We can shape and mold everything to meet or needs.

The hot chick at your job that you've been dying to talk to isn't gonna come up to and slide her hands gently dow your pants now( don't say you have never imagined that, because 99 percent of all guys alive today have done that. I just visualized five minutes ago...). Before any of that fun stuff can happen, you have to TALK TO HER.

You have to create that oppurtunity. You have to talk to her and get her attention. She has to know that you exist.

Anyway..

Making waves can be used in any context. The world is waiting on you to take it over.

But you have to make the first move.

Amir

It doesnt matter how many times you get it wrong... its the one time you get it right that counts!!!

Case in point:

There is a specifc breathing pattern commonly used by yoga practitioners to provide a natural burst of energy, with the awesome side effect of toning up your abs and strengthening your lungs.

It's called " the breath of fire" and it packs a punch, so much so that many people advise that you don't do it before bedtime, as it may keep you awake.

Anywho...

The instructions for this breathing pattern can be confusing, espeically if you don't have a small knowledge of anatomy. Specifically, you need to know that there is a set of abs that most people are not aware of or just plain neglect because they can't see them. Can you blame them? After all, we live in a culture that is based on a culture that prized aesthics over many things, namely the ancient greeks. The abdominal development of our predecessors is something to be envied, with the exception of the dragon himself: Bruce Lee.

Anywho, this second set of non-visible ab muscles is responsible for keeping your spine and straight, and helping us exhale air powerfully and explosively.

Now... What does these secret ab muscle have to do with the breath of fire?

Well...

After having done it wrong for quite sometime, and having now a basic knowledge of anatomy, I can perform the exercise properly and reap the benefits thereof.

You may be wondering: what changed for me?

Well, I switched my focus, for one. Instead of focusing on pulling in my abdominal muscles to produce the powerful, rapid exhalations necessary... I switched my focus to exhaling powerful.

Now... These may seem like the same thing, but if you looka t those two statements again, you'll see that they are totally different.

What's the difference?

Focus!!!

a break from work doesnt mean a break from staying in shape...

Being a personal trainer, I have first hand experience with the healing benefits of regular moderate exercise. All you need is 20 minutes a day of steady activity to stay in shape and stay lean.

I'm not a fanatic buy any means, but...

I take working out very seriously. I treat each training session as a chance to uncover my weak points and train them to be my strongest assets.

Anyway....

I was out partying with my nephew and nieces and I asked my nephew if he was going to work out tomorrow(today). His answer:

"I'm on vacation.. I'm not doing nothin!!!"

Don't you know how hard I wanted to slap his big shiny earring out of his ear?!!?!?

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Why the hell would anyone want to take a break from exercising?

Regular exercisers know how good it feels to work out. You know how good you feel after breaking a mild sweat.

Did you know that your skin is the biggest organ on your body.

Did you know that most of the toxins that we eliminate are expelled through the pores of our skin?

When you look at those two benefits of exercise, it does make sense to me that a person would take a break from their program.

Of course, if you are sick or you have an injury, then of course, take a break and reduce your activity level. You don't have to stop completely.

Did you know that ancient greek doctors prescribed light exercise as a form of "medicine"?

Can you say... Tangent?!?!?

Anyway..

You can still maintain your physique with moderate exercise, no matter where you vacation.

All you need are:
1) Resistance, which can be provided with your own bodyweight.
2) A flight stairs or a city block, so you can go for a power walk or jog( sprinting is best for increase oxygen uptake).
3) Room so you can stretch all your muscles after your workout.

And..viola!!

You have a complete workout in 15 minutes or less!! While you're on vacation!!

BOOM!!!

An easy process to stop smoking FOREVER!!!

Yes: there is a simple method to stop smoking forever, in about 3 weeks or less.

You may have already discovered this technique in your quest to stop the smoking habit.

Well firstly, you have to realize that it is a habit, just all other habits that we have:

We brush our teeth, we eat when we're hungry, we sleep when we are tired ( if the circumstance permit, but that doesn't always sop us now, does it?)

All habits can be squashed and replaced by new, better habits.

Firstly, use some common sense:

What are the triggers that cause you to smoke? What has to happen for you to reach into your shirt pocket and "light one up"?

If you can eliminate some of those triggers, then you make it that much easier to stop smoking now.

In addition, use some more common sense: If you continue to smoke like you do now, what will your life be like?

What will your clothes smell like?

How much money will you WASTE on cigarettes that you could be putting into a retirement fund?

Can you SEE how common sense can be a good thing?

Before you can stop smoking forever right now.... you have to imagine a future in which you are some free.

You have to imagine what it would be like to smell really good... instead of smelling like smoke and ass.... er ash.....

What would your life be like if you didn't smoke anymore?

A)Would your teeth be cleaner and whiter than they are right now?

B)Would your skin be smoother?

C)Would you be able to walk a flight of stairs without be winded?

D)Would you not have that smokers cough or horrible breath?

Since we're asking questions now, let's ask a better one:

What would have to happen for you for to throw away all your cigarettes right now and never smoke one again for the rest of your life?

What if you could find a better way to relax your nerves... a FREE way to do so?

If you could get a piece of paper and a pen and right out all the reasons that you have for not smoking anymore, what would you right?

How many reasons do you think that you could come up with now?

I bet you have reasons already and you are probably going to start thinking about all those reasons in a few moments from now....

What would it be like if every time you reach for a cigarette, you started to feel sick to your stomach... and every time you even looked at a cigarette, you started to feel queasy inside your stomach... you know that feeling you get when you feel like your going to throw up...

What would it be like if you got that that THROW UP feeling every time you looked a cigarette? What if you though about puke and vomit every time you light up a cigarette?

Just some food for thought...

When you really stop and think about it now... quitting smoking forever isn't the hard. In fact, you'll find that it's the easiest thing you'll ever do in your life.

Can you remember a time when you gave up a habit that you KNEW was bad for you? Or maybe you can remember a time when you gave up a person who was bad for you?

As Henry Ford said:

Whether you think you can do a thing or you think you can't... you're right."

Powerful words, right?

Now...

I'm not saying that as you're laying in bed tonight and drifting off to sleep, you'll lay there decide to sit smoking forever. I'm not saying that as you lay in bed tonight, you'll make a mental picture of a cigarette and make that cigarette turn black and white in your mind now.... i'm not saying that you draw a big red xxx through that black and white cigarette....

But who knows?

You may fall asleep tomorrow night and suddenly realize that you hadn't had a single cigarette the entire day...

Would that be amazing?

Change your anger into Jet fuel.....

It's okay to be angry. It's a natural human response, give to us by god to protect us.

Have you ever been in a situation where someone did something that caused you to feel disrespected and you got so angry that you had to do something about it?

9 times out of 10 in a situation like that, someone violated one of your values, something that you hold sacred and your response to that was to become angry.

They disrespected you and unwittingly activated the yang forces inside of you, the sleeping dragon inside of us all.... the ferocious tiger that lays in the cave deep inside us, relaxing, until some is dumb enough to awaken it.

A lot of people find it surprising when it happens, probably because they weren't even aware that they had such a thing snide of them.

I find it very interesting that something like that can happen.

Anyway, Speaking of sleeping tigers and Dragons....

If you're not happy with where you are right now, and deep down inside you now feel that you deserve better...

Wake up your tiger. Rouse Your dragon.

Ride them to your goals and desires. Ride them into your perfect future.

Anger is like a shot of rocket fuel that energizes you.

Now, a lot of you jedis out there may be thinking " but Amir...Anger leads to the dark side!!!"

My answer to you is this:

It can. Being angry and not expressing it or expelling it can lead you to the dark side.

It's your intent that is more important than anything.

If you intend to hurt people then that can be a bad thing.

If you intend to use your anger to push yourself to new levels of excellence and power and to better yourself, then it's perfectly ok.

Can you see the difference between the two now....

Start to think of all the ways you can use your anger and dissatisfaction with your current lifestyle to step up into the lifestyle that you truly want...

Have fun with this!!!

Whether your poison is calisthenics or weights, you still have to stretch

True story.

Overly worked muscles can lead to injury and can even be the difference between life and death.

It should really be common sense, but apparently its not.

Whether your doing a leg press on the smith machine or doing hindu squats, you're still causing the muscles to tense up and contract.

To make a long story short, anytime a muscle contracts, it goes from lengthened to shortened.

This shortening process is crucial for generating tension, which helps us display strength.

Anywhoo...

A muscle that is already tightened(shortened) cannot generate the proper tension to generate muscular force.

Why is this important?

Its important because you might go to bench 300 pounds like you normally do, and you might not be able to get the weight up because your chesticles are overly contracted and already tightened.

Saturday, October 22, 2011

So you can bench 300 pounds for 5 reps.... What's next?

Okay...

So..... you've demonstrated that your muscles have the ability to squat/ bench press double your bodyweight....

What's your next move?

Here's a suggestion:

Wouldn't it be awesome if you could take all that raw power that you have... and turn it into explosive power?

Wouldn't it be awesome to be strong AND fast?

Now, you're probably wondering how you can start to do that...

Well, here's another suggestion:

Plyometric( explosive) training.

Take a break from the heavy squats and the heavy bench and instead...

Do some explosive pushups and some explosive jumps.

All you need is 2 sets of each, 10 reps or as many as you do. Take a break, and repeat.

In about 10- 15 minutes you can get a total boy workout and develop explosive power.

Isn't that awesome?

Amir Campbell

How can you develop explosive leg power while at work? Here's How!!!

Here's a common scenario ( not at all):

You're at work and you start wondering to yourself:

" I wanna box squat, but I can't right now. What can I do right now to simulate the box squat?"

Well...

Let me ask you this:

Do you sit in a office chair for your job?

If you do, then you can use your chair to simulate the getting up and sit down involved in the box squat.

Its really simple, and the idea just suddenly came to me, even though I've been doing it for months now without consiously realizing.

Before I detail the method, I'm gonna tell you a little bit about the box squat and the benefit you get from performing it:

The box squat is a squat that you start from a sitting position. From the sitting position, with the barbell properly secured across your shoulders and your abs BOTH drawn in AND braced, your going to:

1)Make sure your eyes are looking straight ahead and a little above level.

2) Take a deep breath and stand up

3) Gently sit down.

4) Repeat.

Long story short: the box squat can be used to develop a bigger squat and more power from varying ROM's ( ranges of motion). Let me put it into laymen's terms:

How much of an advantage do you have over the athlete who can only maximally contract his quads and hamstrings from the top of a squat, when u can fully contract EXPLOSIVELY from the bottom of a squat???

Do you think that you can run faster and jump higher than that athlete?

Uh.... Yeah!!!

Now.

The real beauty of the box squat is that the lower the seat, the more power you can develop from a deeper position.

This is where your chair comes in...

1)Set your chair to the lowest position possible.

2) You're going to perform a squat with just your bodyweight.

3) You'll notice that performing a squat from this position is much more challenging than performing a similar bodyweight squat from the standing position. The difference in difficulty is the result of the starting ROM's (Range of Motions) for each squat.

With the Box Squat, you're starting lower. With a standard Bodyweight squat, you're starting higher and coming down to a lower position.

Essentially, what you're doing is a negative contraction. In other words, you're starting the movement from a dead start.

Practice the office squat for a bit before you use a athletic box, at which point you can add a bar and consequently, plates to that bar. The additions you choose depend on your personal goals.

The thing about the office/ chair squat is that you have to be honest with yourself or more specifically, it FORCES you to face your weak point and fix it.

Sincerely,

Amir Campbell

If you are TRULY dedicated to being fit for the rest of your life, then buy your own damn equipment

It's a simple as that.

Don't fall into the mindset of "need a gym membership to stay motivated".

If that works for you and you have the money to spend, then more power to you.

I'm not knocking gym memberships at all. There are some very awesome gyms that really take care of their members for the money they pay each month.

I know many people that love going to the gym because when they see other people working out, they feel more competitive.

That's okay.

But...

What happens when it's 2 below outside... for the entire winter?

What do you do then?

How is that gym membership gonna help you out then?

It's probably can't. And I doubt that the Personal Trainers for those clubs will drive out to your house in the blinding snow. I, on the other hand will...

Now...

Investing in some weights and a good, sturdy exercise mat is an investment that will last a LIFETIME.

Having a good pair of weights means that weather is no longer a valid excuse to not stay in shape.

Having a good exercise mat means that you can stay flexible and fluid all year 'round.

The maximum amount of money that you will have to spend is $100.00 US. With this amount of money, you can get a good pair of new 10lbs. and 20lbs. dumbbells. You can get a good exercise mat for about 20 dollars or less.

You can work every single muscle group in your body with a pair of dumbbells. You can work multiple muscle groups at the same time. The more active muscle tissue you have, the more fat you can burn.

With a good exercise mat to work on, you can stretch out every muscle in your body and maintain your flexibility forever.

This One Time investment will bring you strength and flexibility for many years to come.

I have to warn you though:

Once you discover how EASY it is to stay in shape and once you discover how STRONG you are, then you may find yourself buying heavier weights...

You may find yourself buying books on health and fitness...

You may be surprised to find yourself designing your own exercise program based on your own specific needs and desires.

Once you realize how quickly you can get into shape, you might start to become addicted.

Invest in yourself and you will feel so great-full that you did.

Why you should lift/push your 1 rep max frequently

Ya gotta love the 1r ( One rep max).

In simple terms, the one rep max is your muscles ability to push the maximum amount of weight possible. It's tests/demonstrates your muscles ability to recruit as many muscle fibers as possible to move the intended weight.

Aside from being an excellent way to determine a effective intensity to use during your training sessions, it acts as a gauge of your potential.

There is a deeper spiritual meaning the 1 rep max:

I find it to be a expression of the power that you can unleash in your daily life. Its also a gauge, it can be increased, if that what you want.

How to energize yourself and stay energized for hours!!!

Here's a common scenario:

You're at work and your bored out of your mind. The only thing you can think about is what you'll be doing tonight. No matter what it is that comes to your mind, it has to be better than what your"re doing right now.

Does this feel familiar to you?

Well, if you're reading this while you're at work, then you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Now.

Every problem has a solution. More specifically, when you take a piece of paper, sit down, and write out your problem on a piece of paper and look it at, you'll notice that the solution is contained in the "problem".

In this particular situation, it might not be so easy to change your job like you go upstairs and change your underwear. My advice in a situation like this is:

Focus on the career that you truly want and decide that you want it more than anything. This something that you can sit down tonight and figure it out. In the meanwhile...

Let's pretend that you really love your job. Let's pretend now that this is the only thing that you can find right now.

Hey.... It happens.

I bet you're dying to learn my simple little process for energizing yourself and staying energized for hours so that not only do you enjoy your job, but you can actually start to appreciate it more and more everyday.

Now.

If you follow this blog, then you know that I talk a lot about the mind/body connection. In case you don't follow this blog now, you should feel really ashamed. All the info here is free. Not only is all this information totally free, but it can be worth thousands of dollars to you, IF you take the time to write out some of the processes I talk about and ask yourself:

How can I apply these techniques at my job?

Now.

The first thing we have to do is neutralize your current crappy state.

Notice what happens when you think back to monday and remember what happened on monday that was really funny. It doesn't matter if nothing happened on monday that was funny. Your mind will automatically find something that you thought was funny.

As you think back and remember everything that happened this week, you'll notice that you may start to smile to yourself. You may even feel the urge to laugh. Its okay to relax and alloiw yourself to do that.

Now.

Your prolly starting to feel much better than you did a moment ago. That's means it's working.

I'm reminded of that scene from the movie "silence of the lambs" where the main antagonist, Wild bill, is forcing his young captive to do as he wishes:

"It puts the lotion on its skin... It does what its told..."

Too funny.

Now.

You've changed your state and you're starting to feel refreshed.

How can we feel even better now?

You can take five deep breaths. Many times throughout your day, you may have noticed that you yawn more and more. You may or may not realize this, but yawning is a message from your body demanding more oxygen.

Now, what do you do when someone demands something from you? Well, if you like the them, you SUPPLY!!!

So you're going to supply yourself with oxygen and consequently...

More energy.

To breath properly and oxygenate your blood and your brain, you're going to:

1) Relax and sit upright. No slouching.

2) Exhale a little bit, pulling in your belly button as you do so.

3) Inhale to the count of four. Your can use your pulse as a timer. So, you can inhale for 4 counts of your pulse.

4) You're going to hold your breath for 4 pulses.

5) Now, your going to release the breath through your mouth for 8 counts/pulses.

6) Repeat as long as you like

7) Each 4-4-8 counts as a complete breath. You can do 10-20 complete breaths to energize yourself.

Now.

These are 2 simple ways that you can energize yourself and feel better and stronger.

How can YOU use these 2 simple techniques in your daily life? I use them EVERYDAY, because they are so simple.

Start using them RIGHT NOW, right after you leave this page, and start to reap the benefits of increased energy.

Are YOU keeping your life in the proper perspective?

Well?

Are you?

You may be wondering what I mean by that...

Here's what I mean:

Are you keeping your most important goals and outcomes in the forefront of your mind?

Do you realize that your current job/ source of income is not an end in itself, but only a means to an end?

If not, then you may be wasting your time and energy.

I believe that we should get rid of the things that are unnecessary in our lives, because they drain us and put an extra load on us, causing us to use up precious energy that can be better utilized elsewhere... like doing the things that we WANT to do Vs doing the things that we allowed life to choose for us.

If you're not aware of this, then please pay very close attention to words that are coming directly after these:

You can BUILD THE LIFE YOU WANT or...

You can life a life of default.

"Being rich" is a common goal for everyone ( myself included) and too frequently, we lose sight of the PURPOSE of being wealthy and abundant.

The main purpose of having lots of money is to allow us to do all the things that we truly WANT to do.

Like I mentioned before, your career/job is only a means to an end. When something better comes along, then you owe it to yourself, your loved ones, and your DREAMS to go after it...

Now.

This is why it's important to keep your goals and outcomes on the forefront of your mind.

This is why it's important to constantly assess your circumstances and notice how close or how far away your form reaching your goals.

We live in a society where it's all too easy to become distracted by the environment around us.

It's all too easy for a person to let that Beer commercial influence the type of lifestyle that a person "chooses" to live. Except, in a situation like that, you are not truly choosing your own ideal life, now, are you?

The moral of this post is:

Keep your life in the proper perspective. When you're losing your focus, concentrate on and review your desired outcomes. Notice if your desire to achieve and experience those outcomes has changed our not.

And constantly, constantly, constantly ask yourself:

"Is this the life I want?" Is everything the way I want it to be right now?"

id it's not, then get to work and figure out what it is EXACTLY that will satisfy you and fulfill you.

Sincerely

Amir C.

Can you really develop more FOCUS and CLARITY by changing the way you exercise?

You sure as hell can, thanks to a little phenomenon known as the Mind Body Connection.

Simply stated, your thoughts and feelings influence your physiological systems ( heart rate, breathing, pulse, glandular secretions, etc.)

This is more commonly seen in the Fight Or Flight reflex. Whenever we perceive a threat, real OR imagined, our breathing, heart rate, pulse, all speed up (due to the release of adrenaline into your blood stream) to help us meet the demands (imagined or real).

This reflex is good when we need to fight for our lives. However, this can become a problem when the FOF reflex is triggered for simple things, like being cut off in traffic, or being late to work. The presence of adrenaline in our system over a long period of time will weaken the immune system, leaving us vunerable to all sorts of diseases.

Stress is the cause of 99.9% of all disease. Here, let me say that again because it is so important for you to allow that to sink into your head:

99% of all disease is STRESS RELATED.

Having said that, it's common sense that you next logical thought will be:

If 99% of all illness is stress related, then all I need to do is find a way to deal with the stress that I experience in my daily life.

The answer to that is:

YES.

There are many ways to change the way that you deal with those little situations in life that stress you out.

There's Behavior Modification.

There's Hypnosis.

There's deep breathing techniques that you can do so that you can activate the Relaxation Response, natures's gift to mankind.

There's Accupressure.

There's Mental rehearsal, in which you relax... and YOU choose the way you want to respond to the situations that stress you out. It's very effective when done properly.

So, we have the FOF reflex and the Relaxation Response. The Relaxation Response is characterized by the following changes in our physiology:

1) Blood pressure decreases
2) Pulse rate decreases
3) Breathing rate decreases and becomes deeper
4) Brainwave activity slows down dramatically
5) physical relaxation of the body occurs

Normally, these two responses/reflexes are unconscious and automatic. However, with training ( behavior modification for example), you can take control of these normally automatic reflexes...

And activate them whenever you like, anywhere you like.

Now before you read on, stop for a moment, and think about biting into a juicy lemon.

Imagine yourself holding a bright yellow lemon in your hand. You can feel the lemon in your hand now. As you bring it your mouth and take a big bite out of it.

Did you notice what happened? If you started to salivate a little bit, then you now have a "taste" of how much control we have over our physiological processes, in this case, your salivary glands.

Or how about this: Think about a food that you just can't stand. What's a food that you find absolutely disgusting and gag inducing? Now, as you think about that food, imagine taking a bite of it. Imagine swallowing that food.

Did you notice your reactions?

Now...

What does all this talk about the Mind-body connection have to do with working out in a way that will help you develop more focus and concentration?

Well..

Unless you're lifting a extremely heavy weight, which demands you total focus on the present moment, many people will curl/bench/squat extremely fast, in an effort to get in as many reps as possible before their muscles start to tire.

When you take the time to lift slower... to take the time to notice the tension in your arms as you curl... to notice the tension in your legs as you attempt to stand up with the bar across your shoulders...

You start to develop Present Moment Awareness.

You start to Focus on the the here and now.

As you start to be more aware of all the sensations and feelings that are going through you as you lift/ run, you start to develop the ability to focus on the tasks on your daily life more and more.

Present Moment Awareness is a Behavior, one that you can start to develop right now.

Once you have the behavior installed into your neurology by constant repetition, which can be seconds at a time throughout your day, then you will have that useful behavior available to you for the REST OF YOUR LIFE.

Cool, right?

So, in your daily life, as you go about your daily routine, start to remember to Be in the present moment. Focus on the sounds and sights around you. You don't have to set aside 30 mins. to an hour a day to practice this.

I personally think that's a waste of time. If you have the time to do that, then more power to you.

Slow down, and pay attention to the reports coming from your senses:

Take a sniff. What can you smell?

Look around you now: What colors and objects can you see?

Feel the object nearest you with your hands. What does it feel like?

Listen to the sounds around you: What sounds do you hear now?

Can you taste anything? What did you recently eat?

Pay attention to your breathing: are you breathing fast? Are your breathing slowly? Are you barely breathing? If you are, then take control over your breathing and start to breath in... and breathe out...

Developing Present Moment Awareness is simple and you can develop the behavior in SECONDS each day.

Have fun,

Amir C.

What does the Yellow Emperor say about working out in the summer time?

In case the title was a bit... confusing, I'll clarify a bit.

Long, long ago, back in ancient china...

There lived a man who went by the name of "The yellow Emperor". I'm not sure why he was called that exactly, but long story short:

He's credited with creating the system of acupuncture treatment, which is the use of tiny needles to influence the tiny electromagnetic lines of energy that run through out the body, called meridians.

Anyway, he stated that for a person to live a long and healthy life, we must live in harmony with the seasons.

Now.

What does it mean to live in harmony with the seasons?

Well....

The ancient chinese sages noticed that the energy levels of man seemed to change and mimic the five seasons. In other words:

Winter: A time for scaling back activity and regeneration( Hibernation)

Spring: the time when things are blossoming and growing

Summer: Everything is reaching full maturity; activity is at it's peak; the days are long, and the energy in the atmosphere is highest.

Indian Summer: Things start to cool down, the days start to get shorter

Fall: Things are coming to an end, the trees are turning from green to brown, it's a time of dying.

You can remember all this really neat stuff later, but for now, what you really want to focus on is what the Yellow Emperor has to say about working about in the summer.

Without getting too complicated, Summertime is connected with the Fire element, which is connected with the heart. According to the Yellow Emperor, it's during these 3 months of summer that the heart is at it's strongest.

It's during this time that you want to work out, to take advantage of the high energy streaming from the sun to bolster your own energy levels to help you lose excess weight and get stronger.

Another awesome thing about the heat is that is causes you to relax, which in turn improves circulation, which in turn helps all those nutrients from that health food that your eating get to where they need to get to to keep you healthy.

Setting aside all this good stuff about exercising in the heat:

1) Stay hydrated!!!
2) If possible, find a nice shaded spot to workout in!!!
3) Listen to your body and know your limits!!!
4) Children should be kept cool if they are working out in the heat, especially because they sweat very little and as such, don't have the ability to cool off as well as we adults do.

The ancient Chinese sages (doctors) devised a whole system of treatment based on the five seasons and the principles of Yin ( contracting, moving inward, cool lie the moon) and Yang ( expansive, moving outward, hot like the sun).

If you're interested in learning more about treatment using the 5 seasons, then head to the library and spend some time reading the book:

"The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine"

It takes a little study and re-reading to understand what they are talking about, but you'll find that it's well worth the effort.

Sincerely,

Amir C.

Which is better: Calisthenics or Weights? Click here for the answer to this age old question

Here's the answer:

The answer is:

Both.... and neither.

As you keep in mind that we live in a world full of people with different preferences and inclinations. a person likes what they like.

I happen to like both calisthenics and weights, so I train with both forms of resistance.

At the end of the day, however, you are using resistance.

There are certain movements that you can't perform with dumbbells in your hand, yet you can easily do without dumbbells in your hands ie A burpee with a jump.

There are certain things that you can do with dumbbells that you CANNOT do with empty hands. Ie A deadlift.

Both have their place in your quest for muscles that gobble up fat.

Have Fun

You are going to die.

It's true.

I'm going to die.

You're going to die.

It's only a matter of time.

It could be sudden.

It could be slow and agonizing.

So.

If death is inevitable...

Doesn't it make sense that we should spend our days indulging in every single pleasure that spins around inside us?

Now.

Everything has a "beginning" and an "end".

Our life is everything in between those two moments.

I don't know about you, but....

I want every moment in between those two "milestones" to be AWESOME.

When I close my eyes for the last time, I want to close them with a smile and a tear in my eye, feeling grateful for the life I've lived, surrounded by the smiling faces of my many young girlfriends ( all of legal age)....

Now.

The question a smart person, Like Yourself, should be asking themselves is:

"Am I living the life that I want to live?"

"Is my life awesome the way it is right now?"

If it is, then very good.

If not, then...

Take a good, long, look at your life right now...

Take the time to do "inventory":

Where am I right now?

Where do I want to be?

How can I get to where I want to be?

I'm just saying....

Now.

What was does all this talk about death and dying have to do with being in shape and earning lots of money?

Or...

Better asked:

If there was a connection between death and dying, being in awesome shape, and earning lots of money, what would that connection be?

Can being healthy and fit really help you improve your chances of getting that career you want?

Aside from having the proper training ( the experience will come) for the career you want, i think it does.

When you're healthy and fit, you feel "larger than life".

You feel like you can handle anything that comes your way.

You're confidence is sky high - you're walking on air. You're floating on a peaceful stream, looking up at the blue sky and big white puffy clouds...

Now.

When you're fit, you look at your environment in a way that's much more different than someone who isn't so fit.

When you're fit, you are the MASTER of your environment. There's nothing you can't climb. There is no place that you can go or be.

When you feel good, the people around you feel good. Feelings are contagious, for the most part ( until you learn to keep your emotional equilibrium and maintain your poise when everyone else around you is going ape shit...)

Now.

What the hell does being fit and healthy have to do with getting the career that you want?

Well....

Think about it for a moment:

Don't YOU like to be around the person that's brimming over with energy?

High energy = High potential for earning power.

The healthy man/woman can work more and consequently, earn more.

Don't you want to be that healthy man/woman that can earn more?

I wonder if you realize the TRUE implications of being healthy and fit...

Buy the Whey:

if you're reading this right now, and you happen to be eating, stop for a moment, and ask yourself:

How much protein is is this food i'm eating right now?

Amir

Can you handle the burpee?

Burpees are a simple and inexpensive ( read: free) way to get into amazing shape in a short period of time.

When you do burpees regularly, you strengthen:

Your heart
Your lungs
Your arms
Your Legs
Your abs

This variation of the burpee includes a jump, so you get plyometric( explosive) training as well.

And remember:

IT'S FREE

You can create a workout designed around the burpee, varying the number and rest period between sets.

You can also slow it down and get some good isometric training for your abs.

Have fun:)

Are you feeling grateful for the body you have now?

If you're not YET feeling grateful now...

Then you must.

When you imagine what life would be like if you didn't have the body that you have now...

When you really stop and think about that now...

How do you feel?

If you were to imagine yourself with one leg... If you were to imagine yourself trying to move around with one leg...

How do you feel?

If you're an athlete, you better damn well take a look at yourself and be grateful for the body you have right now...

Because You and I both KNOW that you athleticism would change DRASTICALLY.

It's perfectly okay if you want to than your body for being what it is.

It's okay to say "thank you" to your arms and legs to for all the work they've done for you up to this point.

It's okay to thank your eyes for allowing you to look out on the world around you and see all the things that you enjoy looking at...

It's okay to thank your.. "special private goodness area" for all the pleasure it's help you experience....

Can you imagine what life would be like if you DIDN'T have a "special private goodness area" ?

It would be different if you weren't born having one.. but you most likely have one( almost everyone that reads this blog has one... or both...)

Can you imagine what your life would be like if you had no arms?

If you were to close your eyes... and imagine that for a moment...

How much more do you appreciate your body now?

You do cardio everytime you walk and talk

Cardiovascular exercise is designed to help us keep our lungs and heart strong.

Having a strong heart means that we can survive a heart attack.

Having strong lungs means that we can have more power and more endurance.

Having a strong heart means that you won't have a heart attack and die on top of your 22 year old lover....

Many people don't realize this, but...

Everytime you go for a walk, you're doing cardio.

Everytime you climb a flight of stairs, you're doing cardio.

Everytime you chase your little son or daughter around the yard, you're doing cardio.

Everytime you stand up, your heart rate goes up.

Cardio is the one form of exercise that we can do EVERYDAY.

Go for walk, do some jumping jacks, jump up and down on one leg.

It doesn't matter what you do:

Just DO SOMETHING to get your blood flowing and your heart beating a little faster.

Get your heart rate up - and keep it up - for a minute, and you'll get healthier and fitter FASTER than you ever dreamed possible.

Weight training is a different animal altogether and if you're going to start a weigh training program, you MUST find someone who can instruct you properly and safely.

Take care and get your heart beating faster!!!

Are you blaming your job for your boredom?

Is it REALLY your jobs fault that you're bored?

When you really stop and think about it:

Your "job" is really a living, breathing, thing.

Your Job Environment is though.

Hey, I know exactly what it's like to be in a environment that's.... less than stimulating to put it very nicely ( I'll swear later, I promise...)

Now.

The question you have to ask yourself is:

Is there anything I can do to keep myself occupied while I'm at work?

Is there anything else that I can double check and check again?

You see, hear is the cool thing about our minds:

When we look over something over and over again, each time we tend to notice details that we missed during our first glance.

It's one of the reasons why we proofread our work, most of the time.

Now.

What kinds of things can you double check to make sure that they are perfect, or nearly so?

One thing i've noticed when I analyze very successful people is this:

They are ALWAYS double checking things. and triple checking.

Is this a habit that you think can make you a lot of money when you start to develop it?

If you remember one of my recent posts, I talk about how easy it is to form habits. I talk about the mold-ability of the human brain ( Yes, I made that word up...)

All it takes is a few repetitions of a certain action to make it a habit.

The first time is ALWAYS the hardest. Then each time afterwards starts to get easier and easier until..

It's second nature.

Can you remember a time when you were learning something new? What was that like?
Did it ever get any easier?

What's my point?

My point is that no matter where you go, you carry yourself with you.

No matter what environment you find yourself in, YOU will still be who you are.

That's just the way we were created.

Now...

Do you let your environment determine how you act and feel?

Or do you Take control... and Control the way you act and feel.

There's a MASSIVE difference here.

Take Care,

Amir C.

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Imagine for a moment...

Stop what you're doing right now... and close your eyes now....and pretend that you're ALREADY the perfect size and shape that you want to be....

Now...

What kind of clothes are you wearing?

What kinds of foods are you eating?

What are you having for breakfast?

How many times a day are you eating?

How many times a week do you workout?

When you look in the mirror, how does your body look? Are you ripped with muscles? Is your stomach flat and ripped?

Are you setting your daily/monthly/yearly goals each night and reviewing them at night before you go to bed so that your subconscious mind can work on them and help the materialize as you... lay in bed and fall deeply and peacefully asleep?

Now.

You may become surprised at what happens when you play the little "game" that I just provided you...

You might be even more surprised when you realize that their is a super healthy human being inside you now.... it's just waiting for you to pick up your hammer and chisel...

And let it out.

Sincerely,

Amir Campbell

PS. Before you go now... ask yourself this simple question:

Is my current condition improving my life.. or making it worse? Really ask yourself that question and dwell on it...

Sunday, May 8, 2011

Let's pretend for a moment....

This post that you are going to read to the very end is the most important thing that you will read for this entire year...

This post is going to change your life so much in such a short time that you will find yourself feeling completely shocked and surprised... in a very good way.

You are going to stop whatever it is that you doing right now... put everything else on hold... and you're going to read every single word in this post. You are going to read this post word for word, because it will change your life... FOREVER?

You're going to read this post as if it were the most important document on the planet.... You're going to read this post as if it were the ONLY thing on the planet left for you to read now....

You will easily remember everything that you're reading here now... and you will find yourself thinking about this post as you're sitting there at work...

It will change your life for the better, on a much deeper level than you can possibly even imagine...

It's more important than your mortgage payment....

It's more important than paying back your student loans...

It's even more important than your job... believe it or don't believe it....

Now.

What would it be like if you were to... wake up tomorrow... and find yourself looking forward to working out with excitement... and enthusiasm...

What would be like if you were to... focus on all the thing you want to achieve by working out regularly...

Can you imagine what your life would be like 6 months from now if you were to exercise daily?

How much better would you feel about yourself?(how do you feel about yourself when you look in the mirror NOW?)

If there was ONE step that you can take RIGHT NOW to get into better shape, what step could you take?

Here's a really good question to ask yourself now:

What will your life be like if you don't start to exercise regularly?

Now..

I'm not saying that you have to think about exercise as you falling asleep tonight....

I'm not saying that you have to think about what type of exercise would you really enjoy doing tomorrow...

I'm not saying that as you lay in bed tonight, you will continue to think about working out and.... allow yourself to focus on all the benefits you will receive when you do start to work out...

I'm not saying that as you lay in bed tonight... you're going to suddenly feel an overpowering and incredible urge to test your body... and test your limits tomorrow...

You're going to find yourself automatically taking the stairs, and it's going to feel like the most natural thing in the world you to do...

Can you remember a time when you were so excited about something that was going to happen that you could barely control yourself?

Now... as you remember that.... you'll find yourself starting to feel this way about working out and exercising...

And it's purr-fectly natural and okay for you to totally forget what you're reading here.... because your unconscious mind remembers everything you see and here.

Have fun:)

Amir

Nothing works unless you DO IT!!!

It may seem like common sense but...

You'd be surprised how many people lack common sense.

Or seem to, at least.

That really cool diet that you "thinking" about following won't work...until you DO IT.

That really expensive treadmill that's sitting in your basement now...gathering dust... won't help you lose weight and get stronger until you USE IT.

Those dumbbells that stare at you each night from their home in the corner near those dirty ass drawers that you've been "meaning" to pick up... won't help you until you USE THEM.

That workout suit that you bought to WORK OUT IN won't keep you comfortable as you WORK OUT if you don't WORK OUT!!!

Are you starting to "open your eyes" and realize what this post is about now?

In case you missed it....

NOTHING WILL WORK FOR YOU UNTIL YOU DO IT!!!!

PERIOD.

Do you have the BALLS to take the Huff and Puff Challenge?

Take the challenge and tell me so:

Sincerely,

Amir C.

Standing can be a powerful ally in your weight loss quest

So...

Your working a job that requires that you sit for 95% of the time you're there, which is 7 and a half hours. WOW.

Now.

This can be a major problem, especially for those of us that want to stay trim and slim. We all know( or SHOULD KNOW) that sitting and NOT being active for at least 30 minutes a day is considered Sedentary.

To make matters worse, after a long day of work ( whether or not your job is boring is your opinion), you're too tired and mentally drained to workout.

What do you do?

Well... for starters, you can....

Take advantage of the natural rise and fall in your energy levels and "ride the wave" to health and success.

You have to realize that "normally", we sleep 6 to 7 hours a night, and during that time, as you sleep and dream and your body is repairing itself, your body is getting ready for the activities of the next day...

SO.

When you wake up in the morning, you are fully refreshed and rejuvenated. Your body is ready for action.

The morning is the perfect time to exercise your body. The morning time is the perfect time to wake your up your body AND your mind.

Our ancestors were perfectly aware of the natural Rise and Fall in our energy levels, and planned their lives around this naturally occurring phenomenon.

They FELT and they NEW that "The Wave" was something to take advantage.

Can't you... FEEL the wave now?

Today... you're going to do something that will change your life and how you live your life.... FOREVER.

Today... the moment you step away from your computer... you're going to check in with your body... and notice how you're feeling now...

You're going to notice how you feel when you wake up in the morning...

and you're going to... notice how you feel when you come home at night.... as you step through your door.... you're going to notice how your arms feel.... notice how your legs feel.... and your going to...

Notice how alert you are.

Now.

As you check in with your body twice a day and... notice how your arms/legs/eyes feel, you're going to. try something different:

Before you do ANYTHING else.... you're going to:

1)Do 5 minutes of exercise.

That's it.
Then after you've done your 5 minutes, you're going to... continue your daily routine as usual.

When you wake up tomorrow morning... you're going to Feel a powerful urge to exercise your body... you're going to feel an overwhelming need to get up and move your body in all sorts of way that feel natural to you...

Now.

You're going to do this for 6 days in a row. Have you noticed that 5 times 6 = 30 (6 days x 5 minutes)?

You'll notice that your energy levels are going to be THROUGH THE ROOF.

You'll feel better and you'll stand up straight and tall, like a soldier.

You'll think clearer and you'll understand things quicker and faster than before.

Now.

You may be wondering to yourself:

" Can i really experience all these benefits from doing 5 minutes of exercise a day?"

The answer is.....

You tell me. Take the challenge and when you feel the results, let me know.

It's like this:

Our bodies are like cars. Our muscles and skeletons are the frame. Our hearts and other organs are the engine.

Now.

Let's call sleep time.... "winter". And let or bodies be the cars.

In the winter time, do you just turn on your car and drive it out like you would in the summer... OR

Do you "warm it up" and THEN head out ?

I 'm thinking that if you're smart ( which you HAVE TO be in order to have read this far), then you WARM IT UP 1st and then head out.

If your body is like a car, then doesn't it make perfect sense that you want to WARM IT UP 1ST before you step out of the house?

The Awesome... The Amazing... The Lunge!!!

Here's a video I created to demonstrate the lunge, an exercise which works your quads, your thighs, your Glutes, and even your abs. You also get the benefit of training your muscles as stabilizers.

I consider this movement to be total body, and total body exercises give you benefit of saving time because you can get more work done in a shorter time.

Enjoy!!!

Sincerely,

Amir C.

Do you think it's time to reassess your workout routine?

Have you ever seen that movie "lottery Ticket"? I haven't seen it myself, but I have seen the previews for the movie and there's a scene where he talks about the wife that god wants him to have and his ex-wife:

Is your current workout routine working for your right now?

Are you meeting the physically fitness goals that you set for yourself?

If you're not where you want to be physically, then it's time to think about your exercise routine.

I'm not saying that you have to go out and hire a a really good personal trainer and have assess your current workout routine and see what's working and see what can be improved on....

I'm saying that you should:

1) Look at the resistance training exercises your doing
2) reevaluate your cardio program (if any)

Before you read this entire blog post..... you should know two things:

1) Heavy weights (relatively speaking) are the only way to build muscles that incinerate fat like a furnace

2) Interval cardio training is one of the most effective ways to burn fat, next to Circuit training ( 8-9 exercise done consecutively with little to no rest).

c) Increased oxygen consumption( breathing harder and faster) increases the amount of fat that your body uses for energy.

Now.

You need to ask yourself these questions to determine whether or not your wasting your time:

1) Can I do more than 20 curls/bench presses/squats?

2) Can I walk at the same pace for 90 minutes of more?

3) At the end of a set of xxx, am I breathing deeper and faster?

If you answered "Yes" to the first 2...

YOUR ARE WASTING YOUR f@#$%%^ TIME. PERIOD.

If you've lost weight using your current routine, i'm happy for you.

BUT....

We can only grow stronger when we push our limits a bit...

If you've walking at the same intensity for weeks/months, then do yourself a huge favor and kick up the intensity for a minute...

Just one minute. Pick up the speed and STAY THERE for a minute... and afterward, go back to your nice comfy level.

Now.

After a brief rest, kick the speed up again for JUST A MINUTE.

Then relax and continue walking at your normal pace.

During that one minute push, your breathing rate should have increased dramatically.

During that time, your body is telling your fat stores to become available so that you can use it for energy.

As for resistance training...

You can only build muscle with a weight the you can move 12-15 times.

If you can bench it 20 times of more, then it's time for you to increase the weight.

Believe me... you have the strength to do it... and the endurance....

Whether or not you realize this now.... You are on the right track.

Building endurance is a necessary step to increasing your strength and ultimately, fat loss.

Now.

Having endurance is like.... having a foundation made of Stone.

Take advantage of the foundation you've developed to become stronger and faster than you've ever imagined.

Sincerely,

Amir

You can STOP punching your winter fat now...

Ancient roman gladiators believed that the sun had the power to increase the size and strength muscles. Most roman house hold were built with "sunroof" to allow the sunlight to rain down on the residents.

If you're punching your gut right now, you can calm down for a minute....

It's not your fault...

If you're gonna blame anybody, then you can only blame mother nature, and the lack of sunlight that is apparent in the winter months..

If you, Like Me, live in the northern part of your country, then you know that it absolutely SUCKS when winter swings around and there is only like, 8-9 hours of daylight out of a 24 hour day...

And it's also freakin' cold!!!

Not to mention the dreaded "Winter weight Gain" effect, which is caused by the lack of sunlight...

If you don't know what I'm referring to then listen up:

The lack of sunlight during the winter months has an impact on your pituitary gland, which causes you to eat more and more.

Sunlight has a regulating effect on our appetite. When you have tons of sunlight, the sunlight hits your eyes and from there it hits your pituitary gland, which suppresses your appetite.

If you're already full, then you stay fuller longer.

Now...

I'm not saying that you'll go the entire summer and not be hungry....

What i'm saying is that you appetite will be normalized and you'll stay fuller longer....

Are you starting to see how important it is to have access to the sun?

Remember how you feel when you're sitting outside on a warm sunny day... you can feel the heat of the sun radiating all over your body.... and you just feel really good...

You can thank the sun for that.

You don't need a scientist to tell you that the sunlight cheers us up, do you?

Now...

The days are getting longer and the sun is coming out more and more....

Are YOU gonna take advantage of the natural healing powers of the sun and get into awesome shape this summer?

Sincerely,

Amir

Develop Explosive power and Balance at the SAME TIME!!!

This is a demo of a exercise to help you develop explosive power and balance, so that you can be more agile and turn on a dime quickly.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPORsH2h2mo

If you're an athlete, then you definitely don't want more agility and quickness...

You want to make sure that you come down on the soles of your feet, so that the force your coming down with is being conducted properly.

Don't land on your heels:)

You'll notice that there is a slight pause in between each jump, and that slight pause is the portion of the motion when you can develop better muscle stabilization.

So, it's an explosive-balance training exercise.

You get to train for 2 adaptations at the same time. If that's not a time-saver, I don't know what is.

This is totally different from a pure plyometric jump, in which you jump repeatedly with no pausing in between reps.

If this looks like like something that you want to try and add to your current routine, then go for it.

Sincerely,

Amir

Loading your muscles:

We all know that we should do it so that we'll have a much easier time with what resistance exercises we plan on doing.

Loading is essentially tensing the muscles to be worked to their max without, sort of like you would when you perform a dynamic tension exercise for your arms or for your legs.

As you should well know, time under tension is what helps muscle get stronger/exert more force ( along with manipulation of rest periods and other variables).

Now.

How can you load up your pecs so that you have an easier time pushing that barbell up to lockout or squatting a very beautiful squat?

You can do these things by holding yourself in a position that forces the muscle(s) to tense up.

In the case of the pectoral muscles, you can get those muscles to tense up when you are in the down position of a pushup.

In the case of a squat, you can do a wall squat and hold in the down position for a couple seconds, doing that a total of 10-12 times for 10-12 reps.

So, basically, it's a dynamic isometric loading stretch....

Check out the video below for more details:

Have Fun,

Amir C.

This simple drill will warm up your hip flexors, joints, and activate your hand eye coordination!!

It's funny how you can find inspiration in the strangest places...

I was walking around the house and I was picking up some little pieces of trash.

Now.

If you don't know me, then you wouldn't know that I have this little....quirk.

Basically, when I'm walking around the house and I have no socks on, I'll grab any little pieces of paper or trash with my toes and bring my toes to my hands...

I figure, I've got these huge toes so might as well use them, right?

So anyway...

I happened upon this drill while scouting for floor-trash ( shoes on though):

I came a across a plastic bag from a recent video game binge and in natural fashion, i kicked it up with my feet, but...

Instead of grabbing it, I continued to kick it up into the air with my knees flexed, kicking the bag up into the air with the top of my feet.

After a few repetitions of this, it suddenly occurred to me that my hip joints were getting warmed up and my attention was focused completely on making sure that I was able to kick the bag back into the air.

EUREKA!!!

A simple drill for warming up your hip joints AND developing hand eye coordination!!!

I'll put up a video of this, so you're gonna wanna watch this space for that...

Sincerely,

Amir

"You remind me of..."

How many times a day do you find yourself thinking/ saying that?

Now...

It's natural. That's the way human beings think. We think in terms of association.

We see something outside of ourselves... and suddenly, you start to think about something else, because that object that you're seeing reminds you of something else.

It's the same thing that happens when people talk:

When I start talking about sex.... and start talking about my favorite position(s)... then you can't help but to starting thinking about YOUR favorite positions for a man/woman to be in...

When i start talking about my job, you automatically start to think about your job, right?

Now...

Are you starting to see how this works?

When we look at a person and the re-mind us of someone else.. it's like we are looking at the person in front of through the "Screen" of the person that we are re-minded of...

Isn't that amazing?

Now...

How can you use his to influence people?

Well...

I can think of a few ways you can Use This Now:

1) Talking about vacations when your with your boss
2) Talking about sex when your own a date
3)Talking about forgiveness and " looking the other way" when you're pulled over for speeding..
4).....
5)....
6)....

Can you think of all the ways you can use this nifty little principle to get more out of your life?

Have fun:)

Amir

Is your desk job making your soft and flabby?

Trust me.. I know you how you feel..

My current " day job" is a desk (cubicle) job...

I know how tempting it can be to order out and have hot food delivered to your desk, so you don't even have to travel to get your food...

Can you imagine what you would like after 30 days of eating Chinese food EVERYDAY for lunch? Can you imagine how FAT you'll get when you do that? (unless you have a really amazing Personal Trainer( Like Me) who can safely guide you through A fat torching interval training session...)

So how do you keep your body in a fat burning state while your sitting on your ass all day?

Have you considered...

PACKING A F@#$$%% LUNCH?

To be fair, it's much more than "packing a lunch"...

It's WHAT you pack for lunch...

So...

Are you wondering to yourself:

"What can I pack for lunch so that i my body can burn fat while I'm sitting on my ass, troubleshooting problems, etc?"

Well, one word comes to mind:

Protein.

When you bring lean protein to work with you to eat on your lunch break...

Then you won't have to worry about where to order Chinese noodles...

And more importantly..

You won't have to worry about getting fatter and fatter as the days/months/years(?)
go by...

Instead, you can sit there and feel absolutely confident that you are doing everything you can to help your body stay lean and strong...

Think about it like this:

You going to get hungry again in a few hours, right?

So...

Why not eat something that loaded with nutrients, so that you can function at optimal efficiency, right?

By Now, you must be wondering:

"What kinds of protein can i bring to work so that I don't end up looking like Jabba the hut?"

Well...

You can bring Yogurt.

You can bring a chicken breast.

You can bring A turkey Sandwhich.

You can bring a tuna fish sandwhich, with Swiss cheese, which is loaded with Calcium.

You can bring....

The point I'm making is this:

When you are prepared ahead of time, then you can be sure that you'll leave work energized and still as slim as when you walked through the doors.

You have to become aware of the situations/circumstances that you will be in beforehand... and plan accordingly.

A good soldier knows the terrain he'll be investigating... and he brings all the necessary tools and weapons with him to help him make it through alive...

Have fun:)

If it doesn't does seem right, then it's prolly not...

Your more intuitive than you could ever realize...

Right now, your feelings are giving you lots of messages... messages that you are most likely ignoring...

Your feelings are like little alarms... they let you know when your life is on the right track...

And they let you know when you've gone down the totally wrong road and you're heading toward the middle of Know-wear...

Can you stop... and remember a time when everything in your life was going perfect... and everything just "felt" right?

I''m sure you can remember that now...

Can you remember a time when things just "felt wrong"... it felt like you were going "against the current", so to speak....

It's my personal belief that every aspect of your life is supposed to be fun, every your "day job".

In case you haven't noticed it yet, there is a difference between "challenging" and "Draining".

Some jobs are best left done by a certain type of person. Some jobs will drain the life out of you, so by the time you get home to your family, you're pissed off and angry, so when you do walk through the door at night, you're family is sort "conditioned" to respond your pissed off mood....

You can off course break your state, and get your self into a more positive state by thinking about the fun times that you and your family have had through the years... but does it make sense that you have to do that every night before you walk through the door? Then to make it worse, you lie in bed at night dreading " going into the office" the next day... so how good are you going to sleep that night...

Doesn't that suck?

Then you have those kind of jobs where... you LOVE it, no matter how challenging it may be. You actually enjoy doing what you're doing... because it's something that allows you to express your natural talents...and when you step in the door at night, you are actually energized... you feel good and you have the energy to relax with your family... and when you got to sleep at night... you feel content.... and you actually look forward with a smile on your face when you think about going to work tomorrow....

Which one of those guys do you want to be?

A better question still:

Which one of those guys are YOU?

Sincerely,

Amir C.

Don't become an Ab monster....

Abs are awesome.

They are nature's armor and while they CANNOT stop bullets, they do offer excellent protection against punches and kicks. They also protect your back by keeping it from sagging inward/forward.

Abs just look cool in general.

While some people neglect ab training...

Others obsess about it.

Now.

Unless your a fitness model, then you don't need to train your abs 7 days a week.

If you, Like Me, just want to have abs that look great AND functional, then you can train your abs 3 times a week and experience amazing results.

I'm putting together a short routine that will strengthen your abs and core and as a result, will enhance your performance and your strength.

Another thing that most people aren't aware of is the fact that training your abs alone will only provide you small gains in strength and performance, whereas training your core in it's entirety will increase your strength TREE- mendously.

Be on the look out for that routine.....

You gotta fuel up if you're gonna go the distance...

In addition to warming up properly, you have to eat the right way to provide you body with the fuel to help you power your way through your workout.

As a general rule of thumbs, if you're going to be performing an activity that last more than 60 minutes, then you want to eat more carbs and some protein and fats, in this ratio or something similar:

70% carbs/20% protein/10% fats

You can adjust the ratio of proteins and fats as you like, but just make sure that you have tons of carbs.

Carbs are very important for many reasons, but here are two reasons that are the most important for performance and weight loss:

1) Carbs are necessary for our bodies to convert our fat stores into energy.
2) Carbs have tons of vitamins and minerals in them.

Do you realize that carbs are SO important in our daily lives that our bodies will convert carbs into fat?

Whether you're running or lifting weights, then you're going to want to make certain that you provide your body with enough carbs to help you get the job done.

How many times has this happened to you:

You're in the middle of your workout... you're goin' hard and your tossing the weights all around the room... when... all of a sudden... you start to get shaky.... your legs are starting to feel weak.... your arms are starting to give way as you're holding that 200 pound barbell over your head...

Now.

What just happened?

Your blood sugar suddenly dropped and now you're screwed, like Jenna Jameson (enter favorite porn star here...)

This shaky feeling is something that people who workout without FIRST eating something tend to experience( you workout on a totally empty stomach, then talk to me and let me know how you like it... or don't...)

Food is Fuel.

How can you fuel your activity if you don't have any food?

If you've ever seen a football(american) on television, then you'll notice that the athletes are always sipping gatorade while they are waiting their turn... Now.

I wonder why they might be sitting there sipping on Gator Juice...

It couldn't be because a pro athlete wouldn't dare run the risk of running of out energy and blowing the game and ultimately, his career... could it?

Before you workout, EAT SOMETHING.

How much should you eat?

Let our stomach be your guide?

How hungry do you FEEL now?

If you're not that hungry, then just eat a tiny bit.

If you're hungry, then eating something, as you keep in mind the above sample ratio of carbs/pros/Fats.

Once you're fueled up, warm up and go have a god workout.

Post exercise nutrition is JUST AS, if not MORE, important than Pre exercise nutrition.

If you;ve been working out for an hour or more, then you're going to want change the ratio around. this time in favor of protein.

If you don't already know this, protein is responsible for the maintenance and repair of muscles. In a activity that you've been doing for an hour or more, then chances are that your body break down some protein to help you make it through "said activity".

You want to increase your intake of protein to hel your body make the necessary repairs, and you want the carbs so that you body can rebuild your glycogen( muscle energy) stores.

Are you starting to see how proper nutrition can be the difference between greatness and...mediocrity?

Have fun playing around with the proper ratio for you. As we are all different individuals with differences in physiology, the ratio that works for me may not work for you; so you may need more protein before your workout, whereas I need tons of carbs for my workout... and the same is said for post exercise nutrition.

What ratios work best for YOU?

Drop me a line and let me know!!

Amir

You can FEEL the difference....

Making healthy habits a part of your daily life is BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION.

The process involves the extinction of the undesired behavior and replacing it with a more healthy, productive behavior.

For instance, if you want to stop smoking, you find another way to relax and do that until it's as normal to as smoking USED TO be.

There are many easy ways to relax naturally ( most people smoke to relax, and most other people just have some type of oral fixation where the HAVE TO have this cigarette in their mouth... read into that what you want...)

Now.

What does Behavior Modification have to do with eating healthy?

Well...

I've said before and I'll continue to say it:

You have to eliminate those unhealthy, low nutrient foods and replace them with healthy whole foods( eggs, fish, beef, poultry, fruits, legumes, vegetables, etc).

You see, your body is MUCH smarter than you can possibly imagine.

It should be, as it's had thousands (if not more)of years to evolve and grow.

The body knows what is good for it.

Much of the foods that we eat today are processed and refined, to the point where the nutrients in them have been destroyed or decreased in effectiveness, to the point where they have to be replaced.

When we make processed foods a major part of our daily diet, we deny our bodies the nutrients that it needs and a result of that is that:

Instead of reaching for a couple of apples or some strawberries or a lean cut of turkey or chicken...

Most people are conditioned to reach for a honey bun or a nutty bar or a brownie.

Don't get me wrong:

I LOVE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THE SNACKS THAT I JUST MENTIONED!!! THEY ARE DELICIOUS!!!

But all thing in moderation, yes?

Now.

When you start to choose healthier snacks over not-so-healthy-but-extremely-delicious-snacks, you'll notice something amazing happening:

Your body will actually crave more of the healthy snacks!!!

You'll start to feel hungry and you'll find yourself standing at your fridge, and you'll automatically reach for that apple, because you're KNOWS that it is healthier for you!!!

YOUR BODY KNOWS THE TRUTH!!!

When you start to make healthy food choices and do regularly (for at least 30 days), you'll will start to have more energy and clarity of thought, and you'll automatically find yourself wanting to be active, and before you know it...

You're lean and your muscles are strong and powerful...

And you're clothes are falling off of you...

And people( possibly animals) are hitting on you daily...

Food is Fuel.

You truly ARE what you eat. At the end of the day, your body is a energy creating machine.. a 2 million year old alchemist that can change the food you eat into energy that you can use to conquer the world..

It as if you're body is like a nuclear reactor...

I don't know about your car, but mine only runs on gas.

If your body is your car, and you're putting sugar in the gas tank, then how FAR do you think it'll take you before...

It TOTALLY breaks down and you're stuck on the side of the road.

Making changes in your eating habits can be as simple or hard as you make it.

When you start to eat healthy and choose more fruits and veggies over honey buns and lollipops, then...

YOU CAN FEEL THE DIFFERENCE.

Now.

Notice how you feel 20 minutes after eating a apple or some other fruit (peaches are good)...

and notice how you FEEL 20 minutes after you eat your favorite not-so-healthy treat...

I'm not saying that the next time you find yourself in the supermarket, you're going to BUY APPLES AND ORANGES... and completely forget to buy those treats that you're starting to ignore right now...

And when you're sitting at home, you'll find yourself starting to crave a big... red.... juicy... apple... and you can taste the sweetness of the juice now... can't you?

I'll be proposing soon... do you think YOU can pass the test?

We'll find out, won't we?

Amir

No matter how gentle the exercise....

Make sure you warm up first!!!

Many people skip the warm up, thinking that they are fine and they can just jump straight into their workout without doing it...

And many people "hit the wall" prematurely, because they didn't take the time to warm up properly and raise their body temperature and get their cardiovascular system revved up for the activity before hand.

Has that ever happened to you?

Have you ever just jumped ( or more specifically, set yourself up properly) on your bench and proceeded to bench press a certain weight without FIRST warming up?

I'm sure you've noticed a difference in performance, haven't you?

Sure, you maybe mentally prepared to exercise... but you have to prepare your physical body as well.

Performing heavy activity without first warming up your muscles and your cardiovascular system is like...

Going from 0 to 120 in two seconds: good (acceptable even) for a bugotti... Bad for your heart and your performance.

To stress the importance of warming up before you workout...

Did you know that Tai Chi practitioners warm up before they perform a set?

YES, TAI CHI PRACTITIONERS WARM UP FIRST?

Now.

If followers of such a gentle art have the common sense to warm up first, because they know that when they are warmed up, they can easily and effortlessly "hold the ball" or "Ward off"...

Then doesn't it make perfect sense that us big macho men(and women) should make sure we take 10 minutes to warm up before we jog..

And warm up before we Lift weights...

And warm up before we play tennis.

The point is this:

Warming up is a way of turning on all the physiological systems in our body and preparing ourselves to function at our best-isses.(my word... use it in front of your boss at your own peril...)

or you an think about it like this:

When you're on the bench and you about to press 200 pounds COLD, without warming up first with some light reps...

How easy do you think it's gonna be to activate all those chestical muscle and rep that weight?

You can tell me when you're in the afterlife...

Do whatever you can to warm up first. The easiest way to gauge whether or not you're warming is to determine whether or... you're warming up.

A good rule of thumb that i like to follow is to warm up to the point where the muscle group i'll be working is warm and feels worked, but not fatigued( there is a MASSIVE distinction between the two states of being).

I also warm up until i'm in a mild sweat. Then, when i'm warm, I feel extremely confident and my performance is always improved. I can definitely notice the difference.

Take a page from the book of World Class Athletes: No athlete worth his or her salt would ever jump right into training without first warming up for AT LEAST 30 minutes or more.

Warming up is that important...

And while you may not be a world class athlete (yet?), you can still apply that principle to you own training and notice the incredible leaps and bounds in your strength and agility.

SO today's lesson kids?

No matter what type of exercise you intend to do:

Whether it's burpees ( I'll be making a short video on that in the next couple of days, so be on the lookout for it...)

Whether it's yoga (YES, EVEN YOGA-ERS WARM UP. TAKE THE F@#$%%^ HINT AND DO IT!!!)

Whether it's volleyball...

Whether it's calisthenics...

Take the time to...

WARM UP.

Have fun:)

Single sets are the easiest way to get into shape!!!

If you, Like Me, like to exercise but not ALL the time, then you know how hard it can be to just get up and do it.

Now.

Being a Certified Personal Trainer, I talk with many people that WANT to get into shape, but they don't like to work out.

They just don't feel motivated.

I can totally understand that feeling... when you really want to get something done, but you don't have the energy to Take the First Step and make the first move.

It's a new year and you create a new you... the "you" that you've always wanted to be.

Th easiest way to build a habit of exercising daily and getting into better shape is to do Single sets.

A single set of any movement is just what the name says:

You perform a single set of any exercise/movement.

Let's say for example you want to tone up your legs and you don't feel like doing 3 or 4 sets of lunges.

What the solution?

Do a single set of lunges and then put the weights DOWN.

Notice how you feel after you've done that set.

Now, if you feel like you can do another set, then go ahead and do another set.

Simple, right?

Here's the really awesome thing about this:

You can feel go about doing only the first set and nothing more, because you've actually exercised your muscles!!

The key is taking it one small chunk at a time.

The reason many people get turned off because they are prepared to do multiple sets.

When most people think about doing multiple sets, they automatically start to feel discouraged.

You don't have to do all those sets at once; you can do a single set of challenging reps and then see how you feel.

A good, stimulating set usually consists of 12-15 reps with a reasonably heavy weight, something that can fatigue your muscles within the given set.

Take a rest and see if you feel like you can do even more.

It's a "win-win" for you, because whether you do multiple sets or not, you've still warmed up your muscles and given them a workout.

If you love this article and you want even more awesome ways to get into amazing in a very short period of time, then you absolutely MUST check out my book, "How to be your own personal trainer!!", which is on sale right now.

By now, you must realize that being in shape is one of the master keys of having an amazing life.

Can you really enjoy dancing with that really HOT blonde chick if you're huffing and puffing after the first song?

While you really stop and think about that, do yourself a huge favor and check out the book right now.

I'm not saying that you have to go there and buy it now before I take it down forever....

But wouldn't it be nice if you could have the tools to motivate yourself any time and get into amazing shape easily and effortlessly?

Have Fun:)
